- A valid 1MB dump (same panel version preferred).
- An SPI programmer and SOIC clip.
- Post-flash panel selection via service menu.
Method 1: Flashing via SOP8 Clip (In-Circuit)
- Disconnect the TV from mains power.
- Identify U158 on the 17MB62-V1 board. It’s usually near the main processor or towards the edge of the board.
- Attach the SOP8 clip securely. Ensure Pin 1 alignment (usually marked by a dot or notch on the chip).
- Connect the programmer to your PC.
- Open your programmer software. Detect the chip – it should identify as MX25L80 or generic 1MB SPI.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Read the original dump first and save it as a backup (even if corrupt).
- Erase the chip completely (this sets all bytes to 0xFF).
- Load the supplied VESTEL 17MB62-V1 U158 dump file.
- Write the dump to the chip. Verify the write (the software will compare checksums).
- Disconnect, reassemble, and test.
USB Update: In some cases, if the bootloader is still intact, technicians can perform a Panel Edit or software refresh via a USB stick by entering specific service codes. VESTEL CHASSIS 17MB62-V1 U158 MX25L80 DUMP Service
