It was a thick, soft-covered tome, usually split into two parts—Po mjestima (by city) and the holy grail, Po imenu i prezimenu (by first and last name). Finding “Ivan Horvat” in Zagreb was a rite of passage involving a ruler, coffee-stained fingers, and the patience of a saint.
