While Quake 4 does not have an official "portable" version, you can achieve a portable-like experience depending on the version you own. 

• Use the GOG version – GOG’s release of Quake 4 is DRM-free. You can copy the installed folder to a USB drive and run Quake4.exe directly. No CD key prompt.
• Registry export trick – Export the Quake 4 registry keys to a .reg file. On a new PC, run the .reg file before launching the game.
• Source ports? – Unlike Quake 1/2/3, Quake 4 has no fully open-source engine port (due to id Software’s post-GPL split). The dream of a pure quake4.exe that fits on a keychain remains unrealized.

Patch it to at least version 1.4.2 if using a retail copy to remove disk checks. Copy the entire Quake 4 folder to your portable drive. Run the game using Quake4.exe from the new location.  While Quake 4 does not have an official
