Legitimate Ways to Get Mathcad 15

1. Existing License Holder: If your company purchased a perpetual license years ago, you should have access to the installation media via your company's IT department or PTC account portal.
2. PTC eSupport Portal: If you have an active support contract (maintenance), you can log into the PTC eSupport site to download the installer.
3. Conversion Rights: If you have a current license for Mathcad Prime, PTC often grants rights to install Mathcad 15 alongside it for backward compatibility purposes. You will need to contact PTC support or your reseller to get the download link and license file.

• Full Programmability: Mathcad 15’s programming palette is considered more direct and less "hidden" than Prime’s current iteration.
• Component Object Model (COM) Automation: You can automate Mathcad 15 via Excel or other Windows apps. Prime severely restricts this.
• Large Legacy Libraries: Thousands of companies have .xmcd files (Mathcad 15’s native format) that do not convert perfectly to Prime.

• Compatibility: Installing Mathcad 15 on Windows 10 or Windows 11 can be problematic. It may require running in "Compatibility Mode."
• File Conversion: If you have old .mcd files, you generally need Mathcad 15 installed to convert them into the newer .mcdx format used by Mathcad Prime. PTC provides a converter tool, but it often requires the legacy engine found in version 15 to perform the translation correctly.
