Released in 2005, Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre was a direct spoof of the slasher horror renaissance of the late 1990s, specifically paying homage to Friday the 13th, Sleepaway Camp, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. However, unlike lower-budget parodies that merely utilize a title for recognition, director Jonathan Morgan sought to recreate the atmosphere, tension, and campy humor of the source material, wrapping it around an adult framework.
