Installing the UMAX Astra 4100 on Windows 7 is possible, though it is no longer officially supported as its last native drivers were for Windows XP

Download Drivers:
- Turn on the UMAX Astra 4100 and connect it via parallel or USB (USB 1.1 mode only).
- Open Device Manager (Start > right-click Computer > Manage > Device Manager).
- Look for “Unknown device†or “UMAX Astra 4100†with a yellow exclamation mark.
- Right-click it > Update Driver Software > Browse my computer for driver software.
- Navigate to
C:\UMAX\Astra4100\Drivers (or similar).
- Click Next. Windows will install the legacy driver.
- Extract the folder.
- Go to Device Manager (Start > right-click Computer > Manage > Device Manager).
- Your scanner will appear as an "Unknown Device" with a yellow exclamation mark.
- Right-click > Update Driver Software > Browse my computer > Let me pick from a list.
- Click Have Disk > Browse to the extracted folder and select
umax4100.inf.
- Ignore warnings about unsigned drivers (Test Mode ignores them).
- Install.
