Download Drivers:

  1. Turn on the UMAX Astra 4100 and connect it via parallel or USB (USB 1.1 mode only).
  2. Open Device Manager (Start > right-click Computer > Manage > Device Manager).
  3. Look for “Unknown device†or “UMAX Astra 4100†with a yellow exclamation mark.
  4. Right-click it > Update Driver Software > Browse my computer for driver software.
  5. Navigate to C:\UMAX\Astra4100\Drivers (or similar).
  6. Click Next. Windows will install the legacy driver.

  2. Go to Device Manager (Start > right-click Computer > Manage > Device Manager).
  3. Your scanner will appear as an "Unknown Device" with a yellow exclamation mark.
  4. Right-click > Update Driver Software > Browse my computer > Let me pick from a list.
  5. Click Have Disk > Browse to the extracted folder and select umax4100.inf.
  6. Ignore warnings about unsigned drivers (Test Mode ignores them).
  7. Install.
