3. Step 1: Physical Connection (USB & Power)

  1. Place the HP ScanJet 5590 on a stable, flat surface near your computer.
  2. Connect the power cord to the back of the scanner and plug it into a wall outlet.
  3. Press the power button on the front panel. The green LED should light up. Wait 30 seconds for the scanner to initialize.
  4. Do NOT connect the USB cable yet. Leave it unplugged from the computer.
  • Use the HP Support Assistant legacy driver catalog.
  • Or download the HP ScanJet 5590 Basic Driver (WIA only) – but this is not “full setup.” We want full.
