  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Learn the basics. Command + 1 (2D Viewer), Command + 3 (3D Viewer), Arrow Keys (scrolling through slices).
  • ROI Volume: To measure a tumor volume, draw a closed polygon on each slice where the tumor appears. Horos will calculate the total volume automatically.
  • Exporting to PowerPoint: Use File > Export > TIFF (High Quality) to create publication-ready images.
  • Anonymization: Go to Database > Export > De-identified DICOM to strip all patient PHI (Protected Health Information) for research sharing.

2. Installation

  1. Go to horosproject.org.
  2. Download the latest .dmg file.
  3. Drag Horos.app into the Applications folder.
  4. If macOS blocks it (unidentified developer), go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
