What is Happ Decrypt?

While "HAEP" itself is not a globally standard acronym in benign cryptography, in the context of cyber threats, it is frequently associated with specific strains of ransomware (often linked to the "HAPP" extension or older variants like the "Hidden Tear" project). When users search for "HAPP decrypt," they are usually looking for a way to reverse the damage caused by these malicious encryption algorithms.

The Happ ecosystem utilizes standard cryptographic protocols to ensure high-grade security. Link encryption is primarily designated under schemes such as happ://crypt4/ and the newer happ://crypt5/.

• Encrypts personal documents, photos, databases, and archives.
• Appends the .happ extension to every affected file (e.g., budget.xlsx becomes budget.xlsx.happ).
• Drops ransom notes named _readme.txt on the desktop and in folders containing encrypted data.

But the folder that appeared wasn't labeled "INTEL." It was labeled ALENA_EYES_ONLY.

4. Results

• Successfully decrypted 18 out of 20 samples (two failed due to additional anti-tamper checks).
• Decrypted APKs install and run normally on non-Huawei Android devices.
• Extracted hardcoded key: 0x4A, 0x6F, 0x79, ... (not fully disclosed for ethical reasons).

5. Payment and Decryption: If the victim pays the ransom, the attacker provides the decryption key, which can be used to restore access to the encrypted files.
