6) Backup configuration

• UniFi: Export controller backup (Settings → System → Backup) or snapshot.
• EdgeRouter/EdgeSwitch: Save configuration via CLI (show configuration) and download config file (System → Backup).
• AmpliFi: Export settings from web UI or app if available.
• Keep backups locally.

Method 2: Via UniFi Network Controller

1. Open your UniFi Controller (or UniFi OS).
2. Go to Devices.
3. Select the target device.
4. Click Config > Manage Device > Custom Upgrade.
5. Paste the URL to the firmware file (or upload it).
6. Controller distributes the file to the device. This is safer than direct upload because the controller checks the hash.

Error 3: "Cannot downgrade: newer config exists"

• Cause: Ubiquiti prevents downgrading without a reset to prevent orphaned database entries.
• Fix: SSH into the device. Run set-inform http://your-controller-ip:8080/inform then syswrapper.sh restore-default. After reset, flash the older firmware.
