Cpts Exam 〈PRO – 2026〉
The Hack The Box (HTB) Certified Penetration Testing Specialist (CPTS) is an intermediate-level certification designed to evaluate a candidate’s ability to perform a professional-grade penetration test on a simulated enterprise network. It is widely considered one of the most rigorous and realistic certifications in the cybersecurity industry. Exam Structure and Requirements
The Time Sink (72 Hours of Self-Doubt): 10 days of lab time is the minimum. Take 30. The exam itself gives you 3 days to hack, 1 day to report. Sounds generous until you spend 8 hours stuck on a blind SQL injection that turns out to be a simple $PATH issue. cpts exam
The "Easy Wins" Strategy
- Scan everything: Start an Nmap scan on all provided targets immediately.
- Prioritize: Look for machines with known vulnerabilities or "low-hanging fruit" (e.g., a machine running an outdated version of FTP or SMB with anonymous login).
- Don't Tunnel Vision: If you are stuck on a specific exploit for more than 1-2 hours, pivot to another machine. You don't need to root every machine to pass.
Reviewers frequently describe the exam as "brutal" and a "test of persistence". The Hack The Box (HTB) Certified Penetration Testing
